Hyper-V is a virtualization technology that allows you to run multiple operating systems on one computer. Hyper-V is available as a free download from Microsoft. To install Hyper-V, you will need to use the Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system. To begin, open the Start menu and type “cmd” into the search bar. Once you have found the “cmd” command, press Enter. Type “hyperv” into the command prompt and press Enter. The “hyperv” command will start up your Hyper-V environment and will show you a list of all of your installed virtual machines. You can now select one of these virtual machines to start up by clicking on it in the list. If you are not familiar with virtual machines, we recommend that you read our article on how to create a virtual machine or learn more about how to use Windows Server 2008 R2’s built in virtualization features.
