If you’re like most people, you open the browser on a weekday morning and start browsing the web. But if you’re a Microsoft Windows user, there’s a good chance that some tabs are closed on Mondays and Fridays, while others are open but inactive. To get around this problem, Microsoft has created a registry key that can be set to open specific tabs on different days of the week. To set this key in your registry:

  1. Open regedit and navigate to the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Tabs
  2. In thetab named “Open Tabs On Different Days Of The Week”, add the following value to the top of the tab: “1”
  3. Close regedit and restart your computer. If all goes well, your new registry key should be active and you should now be able to open specific tabs on different days of the week!

SuperUser reader bobSmith1432 is looking for a quick and easy way to open different daily sets of tabs in Internet Explorer for his work:

Is there an easier way for Bob to get all those tabs to load and be ready to go each day instead of opening them individually every time?

Example:

Monday – 6 Accounting Pages Tuesday – 7 Billing Pages Wednesday – 5 HR Pages Thursday – 10 Schedule Pages Friday – 8 Work Summary/Order Pages

Each day, right-click on the appropriate folder and click on ‘Open in tab group’ to open all the tabs.

You could put all the day folders into a top-level folder to save space if you want, but at the expense of an extra click to get to them.

If you really must go further, you need to write a program or script to drive Internet Explorer. The easiest way is probably writing a PowerShell script.
