If you have a computer that runs Windows 8, you may be able to enable the mouse pointer drop shadow. This feature helps to improve the look of your computer screen. To enable the mouse pointer drop shadow, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Under System and Security, click on the Mouse and Touchpad tab.
  3. In the Mouse and Touchpad section, click on the Add button.
  4. In the Add New Button dialog, enter “Mouse Pointer Drop Shadow.”
  5. Click on OK to add the new button to your list of buttons.
  6. Close the Control Panel and reopen it if necessary.

Re-Enabling Mouse Shadows

Press the Windows + E keyboard combination top open Explorer, then right-click on Computer and select properties from the context menu.

Now click on the Advanced system settings link on the left hand side.

Under the Performance section, click on the Settings button.

Here, enable the show shadows under your mouse pointer setting, then click apply.
