If you’re like most people, you probably have a wireless password set up on your Android device. It’s probably something like “password” or “123456.” But if you don’t remember it, or if you ever lose your phone, it’s important to check to see if there is a way to view that forgotten wireless password on your device. There are a few ways to do this. The first is to go into the Settings app and select “Wireless.” Then, under “Security,” select “View Wireless Security Data.” This will show you all of the passwords that are connected to your wireless network. You can see which ones are yours by looking at the blue text next to each one. The second way is more complicated but can be done in a few steps. First, open the Google Play Store and search for “Wi-Fi Password Viewer.” This will take you to a page where you can enter in your wireless network’s password and see what information is associated with it. You’ll also be able to see which apps are using that password and how long it has been active for. The last way is more complicated but can be done in just a few steps too. Open the Settings app on your Android device and select “Wireless.” Then, under “Security,” select “View Wireless Security Data.” This will show all of the passwords that are connected to your wireless network but won’t include which ones are yours.

Have you ever been in a situation where someone in your family hooked your phone or tablet up to the wireless and now you don’t know the password to connect your other devices?

Note: This requires a rooted Android device.

How to View That Forgotten Wireless Password on Your Android Device

The first thing you will need to do is hit up the play store and download a copy of Root Browser. The lite version will be sufficient.

Once downloaded, open up the app and head into the data folder, as seen below.

From here you will need to head into the misc folder.

Then into the wifi folder.

Finally, you will find a file called wpa_supplicant.conf. Tap on it to open it with your favorite text editor.

Here you will see a list of all the networks you have connected to, along with their security mechanism and password if applicable.

That’s all there is to it.
