Microsoft has released a new version of its popular Internet Explorer browser, Desktop Version, for Windows 8. The new version is available from the Windows 8 Start Screen and includes several new features, such as support for touch screens and live tiles. Desktop Version of Internet Explorer is designed to be more user-friendly than the standard browser. It includes a simplified interface that makes it easier to navigate and use. The new version also includes support for touch screens and live tiles, which make it easier to access your favorite websites and information at a glance. If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer, you can still download the Desktop Version from Microsoft’s website. ..


There are two versions of Internet Explorer in Windows 8, one you can only launch from the Start Screen and the Desktop version which you can only launch from the Desktop. Lets look at how we can launch the Desktop version from the Start Screen.

To get started you need to create a shortcut, so right-click on the desktop, and choose New –>  Shortcut.

When you are asked for the location of the item, type the following:

Now give your shortcut an name, then click finish.

Now right-click on your new shortcut and select properties from the context menu.

When the dialog opens, click on the Change Icon button.

Paste the following into the textbox:

Now select the the Internet Explorer icon and click ok.

Finally right-click on your new shortcut and select “Pin to Start” from the context menu.
